Julie and Richard

Our Story:

Let us take a moment to introduce ourselves. We're Richard and Julie Keaton, parents to six wonderful internationally adopted children and founders of A World of Hope. We formed A World of Hope, Inc., a non-profit corporation, to provide excellent service to adoptive families and humanitarian aid in all countries in which we work. We have been involved with international adoption since 1995.  We adopted our first daughter, Danielle, from China in 1995 and our lives were forever changed.  Of course being new parents was life-changing, but it was really more than that.  We knew that we needed to do more to get the word out about these beautiful children in the world that simply need a loving family to care for them.

We adopted our second daughter, Sarah, from China in 1997 after a very long wait due to adoptions from China being halted for over a year by the Chinese government during a reorganization.  Thinking that our family was complete, we worked at educating others about the process of adopting internationally. However, in the fall of 1999, we again felt that there was another child somewhere in the world waiting for us so we started the "paper-chase" all over again. We brought Mackenzie and Mikhaila home from Cambodia in July 2000. Then in June 2001, we brought Hope home from Cambodia on her first birthday! We were blessed again with the adoption of Analiese from Vietnam in the Spring of 2002! We are now the proud parents of six wonderful girls!

These last eight years have changed not only our family composition, but also the direction of our professional lives.  Although Julie is a CPA and Richard has been involved in the hotel industry for more than 20 years, adoption and humanitarian aid work is our passion!  We've gone from sharing at meetings about international adoption to starting our own adoption organization. We help families who want to build their family through international adoption and care about giving back to the countries from which they adopt.  Previously Julie was a founding partner in an adoption agency, but wanted to focus on a higher standard of service to adoptive families and also on giving back to the children's birth-countries.   We made the decision for Julie to leave the agency she helped form so that we could offer families "over-the-top" service and start a humanitarian aid program through our non-profit corporation. The aid program will focus on sponsoring orphanages and improving the living conditions of people in the countries in which A World of Hope has adoption programs.

A World of Hope's Philosophy:

We work to bring orphaned children from around the world together with adoptive parents who can offer a loving and stable family life to these precious children. These are our highest priorities: 1) care for the children entrusted to us until their adoptive family can bring them home, 2) help the adoptive family bring their child home in the shortest time possible and with the highest level of service imaginable, and 3) give something back to the child's birth country with both cash and non-cash donations and humanitarian aid projects that benefit the people of that country. Because all of us at A World of Hope are adoptive parents, we understand much of what our families are feeling and experiencing during their adoption journey. We pride ourselves in excellent communication with our families during their entire adoption process.

A World of Hope offers families help with every aspect of adopting internationally. As such, we help you complete the necessary paperwork in the most efficient manner. In fact, we prepare as much of your paperwork as we can for you. We work directly with your social worker in preparing the homestudy report to be included with your dossier. We want you to be able to focus as much as possible on your adoption journey and as little as possible on paperwork!

Having been involved in international adoption for more than seven years and having completed six international adoptions of our own, we feel very confident in our skills to help you through the entire process, including the embassy interview necessary to obtain the visa your child will need to enter the United States. Additionally, Julie is very experienced in helping families complete the requirements to adopt their child internationally. When she left the agency she helped form, there were more than sixty adoptions either completed or in progress with various countries. More importantly than that however, we've walked in your shoes. We know what it's like to work on paperwork tirelessly to complete the process in the shortest time possible. We remember how anxious we were to get the referral of our child each time and then how anxious we were to travel because our child was halfway around the world just waiting for us. We also understand how important it is to be able to enjoy the travel and cherish each moment rather than be worried about not knowing the language and wondering how we were going to get around.

All of us at A World of Hope would be honored

to help make your adoption dream a reality!!
